ArenaNet dives in to Guild Wars Development

ArenaNet has provided gamers with an update on their core philosophy that defines how they make games and how it will be seen in Guild Wars 3.

Starting with No subscription fees. A staple of all Guild Wars games, there is no subscription to play the game. When Guild Wars launched is 2005 it wasn't the norm as subscriptions were always a core part of the MMO model and this has been carried through Guild Wars 2 and now 3.

ArenaNet notes that while newer MMOs and now live-service games drop the subscription it appears in different forms such as Battle Passes.

They believe that if you enjoy the game that you'll want to buy the expansions and other content they think you'll love.

The other main highlight from this is that ArenaNet doesn't make direct sequels. Both previous games are different games intentionally. The only connection is the world in which they take place in.

I hope, like me you're excited to get back to Guild Wars when the betas begin at the end of 2027. We will keep you updated.
